Not all magnesium bisglycinate ingredients are created equal. ChelatePure™ Magnesium Bisglycinate from Jost Chemical is manufactured for high purity and verified composition, helping formulators select an ingredient with confidence. From sports nutrition to relaxation and everyday wellness, magnesium bisglycinate is a versatile ingredient for nutritional supplement formulations.

  • Tablets & Capsules
  • Powders and Sachets
  • Gummies & Jellies
  • RTD Beverages

ChelatePureTM Magnesium Bisglycinates are 100% pure chelates and can be readily verified for identity, purity, and potency.  Jost’s Magnesium Bisglycinate is fully chelated, verified by the gold standards for proof of chelation SC-XRD, TGA, FT-IR.

What are chelates and how do you prove it?

ChelatePureTM Magnesium Bisglycinates are are fully reacted and not blends. Some ingredients sold as chelates are not actually fully reacted causing performance and stability issues & false label statements.

Technical Support & Customization

Custom particle sizes, from powders to fine granules, backed by dedicated technical support.

The Chelate Advantage

Chelated minerals are often a preferred choice by nutritionists because their complex structures better survive passage through the stomach to the small intestine where absorption into the bloodstream occurs. The chelate bond with the amino acid glycine provides this secure, multi-site attachment: it protects the mineral as it transits the harsh, acidic environment of the stomach. Because of this property, chelated Magnesium Bisglycinate has become the top choice in the pharmaceutical industry for its superior absorption and effectiveness—enhances magnesium uptake while significantly decreasing gastrointestinal discomfort, making it particularly suitable for sensitive consumers.

For our customers, this means access to a high-quality raw material, enabling the development of premium products that stand out for efficacy and consumer acceptance.

Designed for absorption & digestive comfort.

Not sure if your magnesium bisglycinate is the real thing? Start with two key indicators: magnesium percentage and the glycine-to-magnesium molar ratio. Together, they can reveal important clues about ingredient composition and potential blending.

Magnesium content can reveal clues about ingredient composition.

Fully reacted magnesium bisglycinate has a theoretical magnesium content determined by its chemical composition and hydration state. Magnesium bisglycinate dihydrate has a theoretical magnesium content of approximately 11.7%, while the anhydrous form reaches approximately 14.1%.

Products marketed as “18% Mg,” “20% Mg,” or “buffered” magnesium bisglycinate may contain additional magnesium compounds, such as magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide, or magnesium carbonate, rather than consisting solely of magnesium bisglycinate.

If the magnesium percentage exceeds the theoretical limit, look beyond the label to understand what the ingredient contains.

Magnesium Bisglycinate Magnesium Content*
Dihydrate ~11.7
Anhydrous ~14.1%

Magnesium percentage alone doesn’t prove composition.

Magnesium bisglycinate has a 2:1 molar ratio of glycine to magnesium. A product can have an apparently appropriate magnesium percentage without meeting this ratio—and therefore may not consist solely of magnesium bisglycinate.

Mass balance analysis helps verify the relationship between glycine and magnesium, providing a more complete picture of ingredient composition. While water content can affect measured weight percentages, it does not change the underlying 2:1 molar ratio.

Don’t just measure the magnesium. Verify the composition.
