Industrial Maintenance Supervisor

Background

  • Works under general direction of the Plant Manager in a c-GMP regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards.
  • Broad responsibility to provide industrial maintenance support and supervision for 8-10 direct reports engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures and equipment.

Tasks

  • Train and direct workers engaged in welding, pipefitting, painting, electrical and general industrial maintenance tasks
  • Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment; establish and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules
  • Analyze and resolve work problems; assist workers in solving problems
  • Perform general plant maintenance (corrective and preventive tasks) and troubleshooting activities of workers supervised.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications and standards
  • Confer with others to coordinate activities of individual departments
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew; actively support and provide leadership for company’s initiatives; routinely focus on employees and customer needs
  • Assist in staffing activities for department; evaluate employee performance and recommend wage adjustments or change of status; initiate plans to motivate workers to achieve goals
  • Requisition tools, equipment and supplies

Specifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 7 or more years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; previous supervision experience preferred
  • Knowledge of:
    • High level mathematics and English comprehension
    • Comprehensive level of electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems
    • Advanced level of safety, health and environmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures
  • Skill in:
    • Negotiations and cost-consciousness
    • Troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical and technical aspects of manufacturing equipment
    • Organization and self-motivation
    • Reading drawings, service manuals and blueprints
  • Ability to:
    • Train, supervise and motivate the work of others
    • Comprehend and interpret oral and written English instruction
    • Write routine reports and correspondence
    • Deal with problems involving several variables in multiple situations
    • Work in cold and hot (120 F) environment
    • Lift up to 50 pounds and drive fork truck in safe and efficient manner
    • Operate and maintain wide variety of maintenance tools and equipment
    • Exhibit manual dexterity, perceptual speed and extent flexibility
    • Adopt to rapidly changing priorities based on business needs
    • Pass pre-employment physical with drug screen and physical capabilities test
